Contact wires are made of electrolytic copper or a copper alloy with additives (cadmium, tin) to provide additional strength. The contact network wires are made of shaped copper wire with two longitudinal grooves for contact with the current collector clamps.
Construction
Shaped single-wire copper conductive core:
— nominal cross-section of 85…100 mm²,
— nominal height of 10.80…11.80 mm,
— nominal width of 11.76…12.81 mm.

Used in overhead contact networks for transmitting energy to electric transport, it is applied in contact networks for powering electrified transport: trains, metro, trams, trolleybuses, funiculars, and electric locomotives. The MF 100 contact wire has a solid cross-section of 100 mm² and contains two side longitudinal grooves. The grooves are used for a tight connection between the wire and the suspension fittings.
MF 85 contact wires are made of electrolytic copper or a copper alloy with additives to provide additional strength. The contact network wires are made of shaped copper wire with two longitudinal grooves for contact with the current collector clamps. Shaped profile contact wire is used in contact networks for powering electric transport: trams, trolleybuses, and the metro.
