Control cable with insulation and sheath made of polyvinyl chloride plastic of the KVVG brand according to GOST 1508-78 and GOST 26411-85.

  • Cables of the KVVG (non-armored), KVVGE (with overall shielding), KVBbShv (with tape armor), and KVKbShv (with wire armor made of steel wires) brands are designed for fixed connection to electrical devices, apparatus, terminal assemblies of electrical distribution equipment with a rated AC voltage of up to 660 V at a frequency of up to 100 Hz or a DC voltage of up to 1000 V.

  • Cables can be used for single installation in indoor spaces, ducts, tunnels, and in the ground (trenches), including aggressive environments and areas exposed to stray currents if the cable is subjected to significant tensile forces.

    They can also be used for group installation in indoor spaces, ducts, tunnels, in the ground (trenches), and in fire protection systems that must function under fire conditions, provided the cable is not subjected to significant tensile forces and there is a risk of mechanical damage during operation.

    If the cable has steel wire armor, it can withstand significant tensile forces.

Table 1. Nominal Cross-Section and Number of Conductors

By agreement with the customer, cables with a different number of conductors may be manufactured.

Cable design

  • Copper single-wire conductive core of round shape, Class 1 according to GOST 22483.

    In fire-resistant «FR» cables, a wrapping of two mica-containing tapes is applied over the conductive cores, preventing short circuits between them in case of fire.

    The insulation of the conductors can be made of the following materials:
    — «V» – polyvinyl chloride plastic, including low-flammability and low-fire-hazard types;
    — «P» – polyethylene plastic;
    — «Pv» – cross-linked polyethylene plastic.

    The marking of insulated conductors can be either color-coded or numeric (with a distance between numbers not exceeding 35 mm). Cables that do not have the letter «C» in their designation must include a counting pair in each layer, with its insulated conductors differing in color from each other and from the other conductors. The color marking must be either solid or in the form of longitudinal stripes at least 1 mm wide.

  • The insulated conductors must be twisted into a common core. The production of two-, three-, and four-conductor cables in a flat design («-P») is allowed.

    A polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film tape must be applied over the twisted conductors of all cable types. The production of cables without this tape is permitted, provided that the conductors remain mobile and the sheath can be easily separated from the insulation when stripping the cable.

    Shielding and protective armor:
    — «E» – a shield in the form of a wrapping made of aluminum or copper foil;
    — «Bb» – belt insulation («cushion”) and armor made of two steel tapes;
    — «Kb» – belt insulation («cushion”) and armor made of steel wires.

    A protective outer sheath («Shv» or «Shp») is applied over the armor, depending on the cable sheath material.

Table 2. The cable sheath is made of materials

If not specified in the order, cables are manufactured with a black sheath.
Manufacturing of cables by agreement with the customer:
— with a different number and nominal cross-section of conductors;
— with a different class of conductive cores;
— with a colored outer sheath (red, white, blue, or other colors).
