Fire-Resistant Cable Penetrations

Fire-resistant cable transit systems provide protection against fire propagation along cable routes (single cables or cable bundles, including those installed in trays, ducts, etc.) at wall penetrations, floor crossings, or external exits. The transits can be installed vertically or horizontally. They are suitable for use in all classes of hazardous areas. Two types of fire-resistant cable transits are offered, each with its own unique characteristics. The customer should select the type based on the specific features of the fire-resistant transit:
  • GERDA-PB-FR – Block Transit, composed of flexible modular blocks.
  • GERDA-PM-FR – Monolithic Transit, cast directly into a wall or floor opening.

The GERDA-PB-FR block-type cable penetration consists of elastic fire-resistant blocks that fill cable entry points through walls or slabs. Gaps between cables are sealed with GERDA firestop sealant. Blocks are available in various shapes, including standard brick-sized. The system is resistant to seismic loads, UV, radiation, moisture, and temperature extremes. Service life is at least 15 years.

GERDA-PM-FR is a monolithic fire-resistant seal poured into wall or floor openings. It adapts to any shape and solidifies after pouring. It resists aggressive liquids like acids, alkalis, and salt solutions, as well as fresh or seawater pressure up to 5.5 atm. Suitable for marine, river, and railway transport, including locomotives. It also complies with seismic standards and has a service life of at least 50 years.
