Hydrocarbon gas level detector for atmospheric air

  • Purpose

    The DZI-3 detector is designed to measure the level of hydrocarbon gas contamination in indoor and outdoor environments where the presence of hydrocarbon gases and vapors is possible, such as near technological equipment, storage tanks, loading racks, main oil pipeline pumping stations, compressor stations, gas storage facilities, boiler houses, and other oil and gas industry sites.

    Detector Description

    The detector operates on an optical absorption principle using a dual-channel infrared photometer scheme. It is produced in an explosion-proof design housed in a corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy case. The case contains the sensor unit and cable gland. Atmospheric air enters the sensor’s measurement cell by free diffusion. The sensor’s protective filter prevents dust, dirt, and precipitation from entering the measurement cell. The current level of gas contamination is displayed on a digital indicator located in the detector’s case window, while LEDs indicate exceedance of threshold contamination levels.

  • The detector performs the following functions:

    • executes startup and periodic self-diagnosis programs during operation, indicating the error code if a fault is detected;
    • measures the gas contamination level in real-time;
    • performs validation of measurement results;
    • provides a convenient mode for maintenance operations (zero and sensitivity adjustment, setting gas contamination threshold levels, etc.) using a magnetic key without removing the detector directly in the hazardous area;
    • stores calibration data and threshold gas contamination values in the detector’s non-volatile memory;
    • transmits measurement results, fault messages, and threshold exceedance alerts to the “upper-level” system via digital or analog interface (selectable).
