Gerda-RGL Light

  • An above-ground runway guard light, compliant with the requirements of FAP-381, AP-170, FAA AC 150/5345-46, Annex 14 Volume I “Aerodromes” to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, and Doc 9157 “Aerodrome Design Manual.”

It is intended to provide warning against runway incursions and is recommended for installation at each taxiway/runway intersection identified as a runway incursion hotspot. It can be used in all weather conditions, both day and night.

The use of Gerda-RGL runway guard lights enhances the visibility of the “STOP” bar lights located at runway holding positions equipped for precision approach operations.

    Description/Properties

    • The Gerda-RGL light consists of two high-intensity above-ground floodlights Gerda–EL 217 with yellow light beams, in which the lamps alternately flash at a frequency required by regulations.
    • The lights are mounted on an adjustable shear coupling, allowing both vertical and horizontal alignment, and ensuring secure fixation of the bracket on the support pipe in the required position.
    • The lights are made from cast and stamped aluminum alloys, glass diopters, and stainless steel connecting parts.
    • The lights are powered by control units that ensure the required flashing frequency by alternately interrupting the current from the isolating transformer at a rate of 40–45 cycles per minute.
    • The control unit is a waterproof aluminum enclosure containing control electronics that provide the required lamp flashing frequency.

Gerda-SBL Light

  • An above-ground stop bar light, compliant with the requirements of FAP-381, AP-170, FAA AC 150/5345-46, Annex 14 Volume I “Aerodromes” to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, and Doc 9157 “Aerodrome Design Manual.”

Designed for use in conjunction with in-pavement stop bar lights and in situations where the in-pavement lights may not be visible to the aircraft pilot due to rain or snow.

The use of Gerda-SBL runway guard lights increases the visibility of the STOP bar in adverse weather conditions.

    Description/Properties

    • The Gerda-SBL light consists of two high-intensity above-ground floodlights Gerda–EL 217 with red light beams.
    • The lights are powered by lamp-by-lamp monitoring and control units, which ensure switching on and off in synchronization with the adjacent in-pavement lights.
