The standpipe is a movable assembly consisting of nozzles No. 1 and 2 and a rocker arm. The mobility of the structure is ensured by PST joints. The standpipe is connected to the tank car’s loading and unloading valves via two quick-release couplings. The arrangement and number of PST joints allow the standpipe to operate with loading and unloading valves of various types mounted on the tank car hatch. Each quick-release coupling is attached to the rocker arm through a special flexible unit, which prevents misalignment in case of inaccurate placement of the loading and unloading devices on the tank car hatch or when valves of different types are installed on a single hatch.
After completion of the loading and unloading operations, it is necessary to close the ball valves with a nominal diameter of 50 mm located on the rocker arm. To release residual pressure from the rocker arm, ball valves with a nominal diameter of 10 mm and flexible hoses secured to the standpipe with clamps are provided. Only after this is it permitted to disconnect the quick-release couplings from the loading and unloading valves.
