The standpipe is a movable connection consisting of nozzles No. 1 and 2 and a connection nozzle. The mobility of the structure is ensured by PST joints. The standpipe is connected to the tank car hatch by means of a quick-release coupling.
After completion of loading and unloading operations, it is necessary to close the ball valve with a nominal diameter of 50 mm located on the connection nozzle. To release the remaining pressure in the part of the connection nozzle located upstream of the DN 50 mm ball valve, a ball valve with a nominal diameter of 10 mm and a flexible hose fastened to the standpipe with clamps are provided. Only after that is it permitted to disconnect the quick-release coupling from the drain valve. The presence of a PST joint on the connection nozzle allows the quick-release coupling to be connected to the drain valve regardless of the valve’s position on the tank car hatch.
